The foundation of Codev is years spent at the intersection of AI research and production software. Before building AI systems commercially, that work happened inside research environments: studying how machine learning could improve outcomes in healthcare, streamline operations in logistics, surface signals in financial data, and reduce friction in human-computer interaction.

Those fields move differently. The problems are harder, the stakes are higher, and the gap between a promising model and a deployed system is enormous. That gap is where the real engineering work happens. It's also where most AI projects die.

Subsequent years in industry software engineering — building production systems at real companies, integrating third-party APIs, working inside the constraints of real teams with real deadlines — made one thing clear: shipping is the hard part, not the technology itself.
